Jan Lewis Brandes, MS, MD
Jan Lewis Brandes, MD, MS, holds an appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Neurology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, Tennessee; she is also the Director of the Nashville Neuroscience Group which became part of Saint Thomas Health Services in October 2009. Prior to attending Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where she subsequently earned her medical degree, Dr. Brandes attended the Robert Koch Institute of Virology, Free University, in Berlin, Federal Republic of Germany, as a Fulbright Scholar. Her postgraduate medical training was completed at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she served as chief resident in neurology. She also holds a Master of Science degree in microbiology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the National Board for Certification in Headache Management.Dr. Brandes has been active in clinical trials for more than a decade. She has served as the principal or co-principal investigator in more than 80 studies, primarily examining issues in migraine including acute treatment, prophylaxis and menstrual migraine. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals including JAMA, Cephalalgia, Headache, and Mayo Clinic Proceedings.
Dr. Brandes is a Fellow of the American Headache Society and the American Academy of Neurology. She is a former member of the board of Directors of the American Headache Society and is a past-president of the American Council for Headache Education. In recognition of her professional endeavors, she has been named to Best Doctors in the Americas from 1996 to present.

Susan Roberson, M.S.N., C.F.N.P.
Susan Roberson has been practicing as a certified family nurse practitioner for over twenty years. She has extensive experience ranging from critical care nursing to primary medical care with a special interest in neurology and the management of headache. Ms. Roberson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing fom Murray State University and a Master of Science degree from the University of Kentucky. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Association of Nurses. She holds associate memberships in the American Academy of Neurology and the American Headache Society. Ms. Roberson is a frequent lecturer on topics in neurology and headache. She has written educational materials for nurses and published abstracts of original research in scientific journals. She works closely with Dr. Brandes in the care of her patients.
